Highlights

Guided visit of the most famous palace in France, if not the World ! + A guided visit in the heart of Impressionism Art

Description

Your private Licensed Driver-Guide will pick you up directly from your hotel and drive first 50 miles west of Paris to Giverny, before heading back in the direction of Paris and stopping in Versailles.

The Father of Impressionism, Monet, made this Normandy village known around the world by spending the second half of his life there. Enjoy the unique beauty of his picturesque estate, including the breathtaking gardens and ponds, a visit of the Impressionist Museum is also included in your visit.

Giverny, a little town located on the edge of Normandy is the place where Monet lived for 43 years, from 1886 to 1926 . There, he slowly shaped his garden, a true wonder dedicated to the beauty of nature, a world full of senses, colours and memories. He conceived both his flower and water gardens, as true masterpieces of art.

During the guided tour you will be escorted through the winding alleys and flower beds, giving you valuable insights into Monet’s life, his passion for flowers and nature. The visit will be divided into three parts, the visit of the French gardens, the Japanese style garden with its wonderfull waterlillies pond and finally the house of the painter. Your guide will recommend that you have lunch in the village before heading to Versailles, driving on the scenic roads and charming villages of the ‘Route of the Ridges’, with superb views of the Seine Valley.

Once at the Palace of Versailles, thanks to skip-the-line tickets you will waste no time queuing before entering the walls of this fabulous monument to opulence and grandeur. Most people know that Versailles was the last ‘residence’ of Louis XV1 and Marie-Antionette, but the full history deserves to be told. Built by Louis X1V, in large part due to his jealousy of Nicolas Foucquet’s Vaux-le-Vicomte, construction started in 1660 before it becoming his permanent home in 1668. Thanks to its integral, and unfortunate part in the history of the French Revolution, Versailles Palace has a unique resonance for the French population.

Your experienced guide will be able to paint a picture of what is what like during this crucial period of Pre-Revolutionary France. Whether it’s the Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Chapel, Royal Opera or the State Appartements, you will be fascinated by this visit. From April to October, almost every day, you will have the option to visit the magnificent gardens and enjoy the Musical Fountains Show.

Then it’s off back to your hotel, where you will arrive around 18h with your head full of beautiful images and poignant stories.
