Description

Once you have reached the meeting point at the crossroads of Rue de Rivoli and Rue des Archives, at the coffee shop behind the City Hall, you will be taken for a walking tour by an experienced licensed guide, to satisfy your tastebuds as well as your thirst for historical knowledge. You will be taken through the streets of the ancient quarters of the Marais, in these same streets where French Kings settled from the 14th to the 17th Century.

Find out why French bread is so good, learn about chocolate, Macarons and Eclairs. Admire the display of seasonal fruits and vegetable. Discover the Jewish quarter and the many Yiddish treats. (Not on Saturdays!). Find out about the French food regulations to finish off the tour in a typical little bistro to share a plate of cheese and cold cuts with a nice glass of wine!

Time-allowing your guide will do his best to integrate as many of the places of interest that he can, this could include The Place des Vosges, recognised as the first Royal Square in Paris, walk through the arch-covered arcades, which was once housed the residences of many famous and important people, amongst the most well-known being Victor Hugo. You will be able to admire other notable residences such as the Hotel de Sully before continuing to the old Jewish Quarter, famous for its exquisite shops and restaurants.

It may be possible to stop at several remarkable noble mansions such as Hotel d’Albret, Hotel de Soubise or Hotel Carnavalet.
